CULTURAL SPACE MAURITIUS-GENEVOIX
The academic years spent his childhood in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, a period that directly inspired part of his work, as well as his walks on the edge of the Loire and his years at Pothier Lyceum in Orléans. But his journey was interrupted by the First World War, during which three bullets le him seriously on the Crête Ridge in Lorraine. His stories of war gave rise to several books published from 1916 onwards and gathered in 14, published in 1949, still published to date. In the meantime, the writer - elected in 1946 at the French Academy - would have liked to return to Châteauneuf-sur-Loire. But fate led him a little more downstream in Saint-Denis-de-l'Hôtel in 1927. His Raboliot, which evokes Sologne and poaching, was already published for two years when he came to a large house in the city, still inhabited by his descendants.
