MUSÉE CAMPANAIRE BOLLÉE
Musée campanaire Bollée in Saint-Jean-de-Braye, retracing the manufacture of drones, with motifs of ancient founders.
For eight generations, the Bollée family, master bell makers from father to son, have been giving life and voice to the bells of churches, abbeys and cathedrals throughout the world in the purest tradition. In 1992, Dominique Bollée - one of the last three bell founders in France to perpetuate the art of his ancestors with the same tools and techniques - founded the bell museum, adjacent to the foundry workshop, thus retracing the manufacture of these bells from A to Z for everyone. Here you can see old foundry patterns, musical control devices, clappers, tools and old mechanical clocks. More than sixty cathedrals have heard the chimes from the workshops, including Orléans, Amiens, Chartres, Tours, Reims, as well as Dakar, Ottawa, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. Visit by appointment.
