LE CŒUR VAL DE LOIRE À VÉLO
Go there and contact
The Loire à Vélo is a safe, well-developed route along the wild Loire River. It allows families to cycle 800 km from the Cher to the Atlantic. Strolling along the 113 km of safe, signposted itineraries in Loir-et-Cher, you'll discover panoramic views over the Loire, typical villages and châteaux in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Chenonceau and Chambord are within easy reach thanks to the châteaux à vélo itineraries. You can cycle around the national estate of Chambord, where 12 km of trails take you around the château (or to other châteaux throughout the estate). In Chambord, you can also opt for a 20 km marked hiking trail. In the heart of the Grande Sologne region, you'll find the fledgling Sologne à vélo (Sologne by bike). 5 loops take you along small roads and country lanes to discover the most beautiful ponds. The Vendôme region offers 11 cycling circuits ranging from 23 to 45 km, and 6 mountain bike circuits from 18 to 53 km. It's also possible to follow the Camino de Compostela for 80 km along the Loir valley. The cœur-val-de-Loire website is very well designed, allowing you to choose the theme of your cycling tour, or even your walking tour (see the practical info section): the Sologne ponds, the Valley of the Kings, the Loir Valley wine route, frescoed churches, and so on. In short, a wide choice to suit your interests.
