Castle presenting a panorama of the art and history of the castles of the Loire, which hosts exhibitions relating its history.
At the gateway to the Loire Valley, the Château Royal de Blois presents a veritable panorama of the art and history of the Loire castles, making it the best introduction to their architectural richness. Around the courtyard, dominated by the monumental François I staircase, you'll find an anthology of four styles of French architecture: the Gothic style with the Salle des États généraux, the beginnings of Italian influence with the Louis XII wing, the Renaissance in the François I wing and finally the classical style with the wing built by Mansart for the Duke of Orléans. The residence of seven kings and ten queens of France, the Château Royal is an evocation of the power and daily life of the Renaissance court, as evidenced by the royal apartments, furnished and adorned with magnificent polychrome decorations. On the exterior façade, the portal is surmounted by the equestrian statue of King Louis XII. Overlooking the town, the facade with its many colorful loggias is quite simply remarkable... To surprise you, the "unusual tour" of the château (by reservation only): an atypical itinerary focusing on parts closed to the public. A new tour of the royal apartments, with the history of the château in 3D (giant interactive screens), and a new presentation of the Musée des Beaux-Arts have also been introduced. Every year, exhibitions highlight the history of the château and its illustrious guests. The sound and light show is simply magnificent.
