BERDIGNE-BERDOGNE
This strange name comes from the noise of the carriages swinging to the rhythm of the animals' slow steps. The place of this large gathering of rural teams organized by the Union for Folk Culture in Sologne changes place every year as does the theme. In a village immersed in the atmosphere of yesteryear, old rural teams roam the streets (pulled by oxen, donkeys and draught horses, and even dogs), trades that have now disappeared or have been totally transformed are reborn and the market held by the inhabitants of the village is in full swing. The old shops have been renovated and their signs plunge the old ones back into their memories. It is a celebration of rural heritage and visitors have become true believers by following it from village to village. Berdigne-Berdogne is traditionally scheduled for the second weekend in September each year.
