ST. DIDIER'S BAROQUE CHURCH
The church Saint-Didier in Asfeld is the strangest of the churches of Champagne-Ardenne and even of France. Built at the end of the seventeenth century, in Baroque style, it consists of a rotunda with the pentagonal diagram forming the church choir and a vestibule forming the nef overlooking a porch bearing the bell surrounded by a colonnade. The package gives a mirror-shaped plane or a violator. Fully built in brick, its colonnade architecture, domes and domes are truly audacious. None of the building walls follows a straight line. An extravagant form designed by the architect François Romain, Flemish monk. Its originality is such that historians assume that two other artists have intervened in its realization.
