Culminating at 260 m above sea level, these peak rocks illustrate the best known of the Ardennese legends. This very old legend of the Middle Ages tells us that one of them, Renaud, mortally wounded the nephew of Charlemagne during a part of failure, provoking the curse of the emperor who constantly hunts them. The four young knights took refuge in the Ardenne Forest. They build the Château Regnault, then after a long siege regenerate the forest of Ardenne, straddling Bayard their magic horse. Coming from Monthermé, you can reach the legendary site by a very narrow street on the left, in the neighborhood of Château-Regnault. A wooden staircase leads to the plateau that hosts the Aymon Folk festival every year. Then you can follow the nature trail that winds between the rocks or take the road to the belveved. Close to the statue of these valiant knights and their faithful trekking that dominates the city, a magnificent panorama of Meuse's curls is offered to you.
