STATUE OF CHARLES OF GONZAGUE - 1899
An imposing bronze statue, known for all. After a century spent in the center of Ducale Square, replacing the fountain fed by four lions of lions and four dolphins, the statue of the founder of the city, funded by Mrs. Pay-Guillemain, carved by Mr. Mohimont and representative Charles de Gonzague on foot, was moved to the junction of Jean-Jaurès Avenue and the Rue de la République to welcome visitors from the station to visit the Ardennese capital. His move caused many months in the city and many would like to see the great Charles reinstate his throne in the heart of the city and the place he funded.
