THE FRESCO OF THE SCAILLETEUX
Fresco inaugurated in 1988, a work of the sculptor George-Armand Favaudan in Fumay
Inaugurated in 1988, this fresco, the work of sculptor George-Armand Favaudan, perpetuates the memory of the scailleuteux. This was the name given to the men who extracted the blocks of slate from the sea bed and cut them into usable blocks. Installed at the entrance to the town, it is made of slate and concrete and represents the various phases of slate working. At night, its illumination gives it an even more particular relief!
