A camp representing a perfect example of military architecture, and offering a superb view on Givet, Saint-Hilaire
The fortifications of the Mount of Haurs are partly included in the nature reserve of the point of Givet. In 1697, Louis XIV asked Vauban to reinforce the defenses of the city. The man decides to make Mount a trenched camp in a crown form to protect the fort of Charlemont. The camp is a perfect example of the military architecture Vauban had in mind. Do not hesitate to wear your hiking shoes and follow the marked path to arbenter the remains of this giant stone, from Hulobiez bastion to Napoleon stables. From the Grégoire Tower you will have a superb view of Givet, Saint-Hilaire and Notre-Dame.
