ANCIENT MONT-DIEU CHARTERHOUSE
Former Carthusian monastery of Mont-Dieu with remains of the monastery, classified as historical monuments
The former Carthusian monastery of Mont-Dieu was founded in 1132 by the abbot of Saint-Rémi de Reims, before being rebuilt in the 17th century. The site cannot be visited, but from the outside you can admire the entrance pavilion and the large main building, the only survivors of a magnificent complex in which the Carthusian monks prayed until the French Revolution. The remains of the monastery have been classified as historic monuments since 1946.
