ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH
Church with magnificent portal, paintings by Wibault and modern stained glass windows
Saint-Nicolas' appeal lies in its "duality". In fact, we could say that it is made up of two churches. Its two naves tell us a story: that of the inhabitants who, vexed by being granted the south nave, which was smaller than the one dedicated to the monks, fought to obtain an identical nave. Of course, its magnificent portal, so praised by Verlaine, will captivate you, as will the paintings by Wibault and the modern stained-glass windows. The church was badly damaged during the Second World War, and was not reopened until 1956.
