NÉCROPOLE NATIONALE DE TORCY
In the solemn silence of the Nécropole de Torcy, lie the heroes of the fiery battles of the Ardennes. A place steeped in memory.
The national necropolis at Torcy, established during the fighting at Sedan-Carignan in August 1914, is home to 2,909 bodies, the majority of them French soldiers from the First World War, with a few others from the Second. Witness to the fierce battles in the Ardennes, the necropolis reflects the considerable losses suffered despite some French successes. Torcy is also the resting place of Camille Tassigny, who was captured in 1914 and died in captivity in 1919.
