NÉCROPOLE NATIONALE D'ORFEUIL
The Orfeuil necropolis, a tribute to the French and Russian soldiers who fell in the Great War of 1918.
The Argonne was the scene of terrible fighting during the Great War. Among the region's memorial sites is the Orfeuil national necropolis, where 1,312 French soldiers and 6 Russian soldiers are buried, having fallen in the fighting at Vouziers in 1918. A stone obelisk has been erected in the necropolis in tribute to the soldiers of the units engaged in 1918 who died for France. A short distance away, the German cemetery contains the graves of 3,088 soldiers.
