ST. JOHN'S CHAPEL

Half-Romanesque, half-Gothic St. John's chapel, with a hiking trail and windows of various sizes
The surprisingly narrow "Chapelle Saint-Jean", half-Romanesque, half-Gothic, seems to be wedged between several buildings, and dates back to the 11th century. Formerly the property of the Hospitallers or Templars, its atypical architecture is intriguing. Like a treasure hunt, you'll have to look out for the three fleur-de-lis shield, the five-petal rose and the heads of two young men on the façade. The windows, of unequal sizes, reinforce the strangeness of the place, reminiscent of the Commanderie d'Avalleur. A hiking trail links the three chapels, Saint-Jean, Notre-Dame-du-Chêne and the Commanderie d'Avalleur. It's a place steeped in mystery and well worth discovering!
