ST. PETER'S CHURCH
Beautiful building housing an amazing collection of statues and a gilded altarpiece by Bouchardon
A jewel of the 12th century, this beautiful building was preceded by a Benedictine monastery, which was regularly surrounded by a market in the Middle Ages. An amazing wooden gallery, the halloy, runs east and west along the building. Several chapels were added in the 15th and 16th centuries. An 18th century bell tower, a 12th century portal, Renaissance leaves and inside, an amazing collection of statues. The gilded wooden altarpiece is by Bouchardon (1735) and the romantic organ with 40 stops on 3 keyboards (1845) is the work of Lete, the king's organ builder.
