THE HOUSE SWELLS
If we know the literary prize well, also know that this house, that of a cousin, welcomed Edmond and Jules from Goncourt from 1834 to 1878 (a commemorative plaque recalls). In addition to their homes of Auteuil and Neufchâteau, they evoke this many times in their Journal: It's here that they record anecdotes about provincial life, including the one of millionaire Trumet, so stinky that he gave lace to these sons. This house was a guarantee of rest with their cousin, as they write to Flaubert: «We are vegetating with joy». The house, with its small turret, is quite picturesque.
