The only original remains of the Lion Tower and the vaulted guard room, with the Clock Tower in Bar-sur-Seine
The importance of this medieval castle lies in its location on the border between Champagne and Burgundy. In 1273, it was the birthplace of Jeanne de Navarre, Countess of Champagne and future Queen of France. It also had to contend with rivalries between Armagnacs and Burgundians, Ligueurs and Protestants, Louis XI and Charles le Téméraire... Only the Lion Tower and the Guard Room remain. From the top of the castle's promontory, you can admire a beautiful view of the town.
