Its appearance does not reflect the treasures it houses. The Bayel church is a place that goes back to auXIIIème. The high place of the medieval champagne statuary, thanks in particular to two famous Virgin exhibited in the largest French and international exhibitions, this masterpiece of the Troyan school of the sixteenth century, the Virgin of Pity (who retained its printing) is attributed to the workshop that produced the church of the Church of Madeleine in Troyes and the Holy Women of the Tomb of Chaource. Another well-known sculpture of the th century, the polychrome child of Belroy, borrows both gravity and sweetness, and is the second major work to be discovered among these statues, still from the th century. The polychrome stone pietà of Bayel falls within the troyan school and is attributed to Chaource master. Seen as one of the most beautiful sculptures in the early th century, this mother of Christ was reproduced by the National casts workshop and included among the selections of the French Monuments Museum of the Chaillot Palace in Paris. She participates in operation "One day, a church".
