LOW-FOUNTAIN ABBEY

Lower Fountain is a very nice Cistercian abbey, very well preserved, which was built in 1143 by Gautier II of Brienne. It is located a few kilometers from the village of Brienne-la-Vieux, on a private land, but offers a pleasant walk to the visitors. It has its name from a nearby fountain, restored and where you can go down. It was used mainly before hunting, which is why it is close to the forest. Watch its magnificent capitals adorned with characters and foliage, which alone survived the centuries but are well worth Cluny's, and the cloister where everyone can find moments of peace.
