LES CIRCUITS DES CADOLES

We can see here and there, along the coast of Bars, curious stone huts. This is cadoles. Built about 200 years ago by the winemakers, these huts made of stacked flat stones are usually round shape and have no structure but only a stone vault and an opening to the top which served as a chimney. A refuge against the wind, the cold or the sun, the wine growers come to rest and eat there. Some are flooded with vegetation and each has their own distinctive characteristics and names: the "wonder" or "sugar bread" with its distinctive shape.
