MONASTERY OF NOTRE-DAME-DE-LA-SAINTE-ESPÉRANCE
A Benedictine monastery belonging to the artistic and religious heritage of the Aube, and offering visits in its store
Founded in 1864, this Benedictine monastery of Mesnil-Saint-Loup belongs to the artistic and religious heritage of the Aube, despite its remote location. Six times a day, the community celebrates services in the recently restored chapel. Adjacent to the Monastery of Our Lady of Holy Hope is the Monastery of Saint Scholastica. The monastery welcomes those who wish to retreat from the city, in a sober but modern environment. There are no constraints, only an invitation to share the daily life of the community.
The monastic day is punctuated by the prayer of the Hours in the monastery chapel. The chapel, open from 5:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m., allows you to experience the praise of the Hours with the community as well as times of personal prayer. The monks encourage you to share at least one service with them. The hostel has single or double rooms: 15 beds for 10 rooms. It also has a barn that can accommodate about 50 people for conferences.
During your stay, you have the possibility of meeting a brother. The men take their meals with the community. Groups can cook or order meals.
The monastery also engages in handicrafts, has created its own publishing house, and offers you the opportunity to visit its shop daily, from 10:00 to 11:00 and from 14:30 to 17:15. Do not hesitate to contact the friendly Brothers Bertrand, Guillaume and Bernard for any information.
