ROSE CASTLE
Château de Rosières, dating from the early 13th century, takes its name from the reeds that populated the marshy area where it was built. More famous than its construction, it is its owner, Charles Perrault, the author of the fairy tales, who has left his mark on the history of the place. Although there are no Red Riding Hoods here, the château is impressive for its moat and stone bridge. Perrault, general controller of the king's buildings, transformed the entrance pavilion. Rosières was also a venue for literary salons, hosting La Fontaine and Fontenelle. Today, this remarkably well-preserved gem remains a fascinating witness to the literary and architectural history of its era.
