CHAPEL-GODEFROY CASTLE
Go there and contact
From this great castle of the seventeenth century, only a walled wall is left and above all a superb legend. Today he has little interest, even though in the Middle Ages he possessed dungeon, ditches and hindquarters, but everything was destroyed in a fire during the battle of Nogent-sur-Seine in 1814. This seigneury, work by Jean Orry or his son Philibert Orry, Comptroller General of Finance of Louis XV, the Chapelle-Godefroy appeared, in the Revolution, to the Boullongne. Six paintings from the Boullongne will be seized in the Revolution and other wonders that will let the people of the people come before them: a canvas of Hubert Robert, two of Watteau and no less than fifteen Nattoires. The commune of Chapelle-Godefroy was attached to that of Saint Aubain in year VIII. This castle was particularly in the eighteenth century a place of luxury, prestige and abundance. About most of the crumbling stories of Dawn, visit Mr. Schweitzer's rich web site: www.jschweitzer.fr. A pleasure!
