LE ROYAL HÔTEL ^{* * *}

The Royal Hotel, at the foot of the train station, preserves this facade of old hotels, where the walls are ennobled with paintings and sculptures. Some will find in this place the elegance of carpets on the stairs, traditions. Others will regret the lack of modernity or an updated touch. We offer you about forty air-conditioned rooms. Attractive and very well furnished, no frills for the decoration, but the comfort of these rooms is self-sufficient: baths, shower, WC, telephone, flat screen TV and free Wifi. The restaurant keeps the same spirit, with cheeses and dessert trolleys. The dishes are refined, the Jerusalem artichokes soup to wait is appreciated, but we regret that the staff is more than reduced in number on Sundays. Because the Royal belonged to these restaurants where people came with their families without reservation. Large white tablecloths, starters and dishes at the height of a gourmet, including a lobster casserole dish, monkfish and vegetables, pretty with its bell-shaped puff pastry, or flambéed meats in front of you with Troyes sloe... For desserts, we are more reserved. The floating island, the charlotte, are nothing exceptional. A little too bad to end a meal on this note. Be careful to ask before ordering what is not available in dishes or wine because you can sometimes be confused. The service is up to the standard of the place, very chic.
