It's not insignificant: since December 2018, this legendary fair has been included in the inventory of French Intangible Cultural Heritage. This was the decision of the Ministry of Culture, on the basis of a file submitted several years ago by the town hall. In Saint-Aulaye, in the heart of La Double country, takes place every year on May 1st and the day before and also at the beginning of September, the Latière fair. History (or legend) has it that it was founded from regular gatherings of brigands in the forest of the Double. Today, more than 200 exhibitors from all over France offer regional specialities in addition to an agricultural fair (animals and more broadly nature and leisure, horticulture and gardening). Nearly 10,000 visitors criss-cross the aisles, sometimes with their feet in the mud. The events follow one another: from the dog festival to the pilgrimage to the "miraculous" Saint-Eutrope fountain, preceded by a mass. This atypical fair, organised in the heart of 8 hectares of forest, is also a mecca for gastronomy, there is even a fairground in the open country.
