CISTERCIAN ABBEY OF AUBERIVE
Cistercian abbey of Auberive with a park, having undergone several transformations, now a center of contemporary art
Founded in 1135 on the banks of the Aube, this abbey is the 24th daughter of Clairvaux. Destroyed during the Hundred Years' War, then rebuilt, it was transformed during the Revolution into a beautiful residence surrounded by parkland. The abbey became a women's prison in 1856 and was requisitioned during the Second World War. In 1960, it became a vacation camp, and in 2004 was bought by the Volot family, who still live there today and have restored the building.
