VILLARS-SAINT-MARCELLIN CHURCH
Dating from the eleventh and twelfth centuries, the church is dedicated to Saint Marcellin whose relics were made in 1846. It was at the request of Prosper Mérimée that the choir, the tympan and the crypt were classified historic monuments. The little tympan, protected by a wooden porch, represents fantastic animals resembling Celtic figures. When you enter the chorus, it is with emotion that you discover the wooden benches with the names of the outings, the ceiling is wooden, there is an old stove connected by a lead to the ceiling. Better still, the "cul-de-oven" abbey is painted in sky blue, strewn with black and gold stars, adding to the character of this church. Take the time to visit the crypt, a small room with twelve pillars, a strange clarity there and on the altar a Christ of stone. On the left is a sarcophagus that has, according to legend, virtues to heal the migraines, you will have to pass your head through the hole.
