DAIMS PARK
A preserved natural site composed of rare species where a hundred deer live in freedom, to be visited in Châteauvillain.
Formerly a private site surrounded by walls in 1655, the Parc aux Daims is now open to visitors! A hundred free-roaming fallow deer live in an unspoilt natural setting, surrounded by rare species of trees. A lovely bucolic walk allows you to watch them evolve. Also worth seeing are the remains of ancient quarries from which, among other things, the stones for the town's 12th- and 14th-century walls were extracted. The park is closed during the fallow deer's mating season and rutting season, to preserve the animals' peace and quiet.
