JESUIT CHAPEL
The "chapel of high school", which is qualified, is this building located in the main street. Built, thanks to the donations of Chaumontese families, in the seventeenth century (from 1629) by architects of the Company of Jesus, this chapel is typical of Jesuit architecture. Inside, a very rich decoration, including Claude Collignon's monumental retable, where the Assumption of J.-B. Bouchardon comes from the convent of Ursulines. Under the left-wing pillar of the choir were the ashes of the founder of the Jesuit College: Marguerite of Rose. Unfortunately, the finely finished facade of 1640 was the object of a clumsy restoration in 1817 and lost its shine. She hosts artists, including a Russian last summer, Dimitri Koulaguine.
