THE GREETING
Built in the xie and xiie centuries on a rocky spur overlooking the valley of Suize over 45 m, it remains, with the neighboring low rooms, the only vestige of the ancient castle of the Counts of Champagne. Added to the additional inventory of historic monuments, this square tower of 18 m height retains a medieval appearance, despite transformations over the centuries. At the base, the dungeon was the dwelling of the lord and his soldiers, before serving as a prison until 1866. From its gallery, we have an exceptional view of Chaumont. If it remains closed during the year, the dungeon is now a tourist pole, since at its feet the Museum of Art and History and the Museum of the Nursery are at its feet.
