THE SILOS - HOUSE OF BOOKS AND POSTERS
It was in 1994 that these former agricultural silos were converted into a unique cultural site in France. The building alone is worth a detour. The old one has been preserved while providing a beautiful touch of modernity. The result is harmonious and fits perfectly into the area of the station that has just been renovated and has a cinematic multiplex. An International Graphic Center should be released shortly to complete this pole around the image. Here the poster and book are honored. Nothing surprising since Chaumont is the capital of the graphics. But the Silos are not a museum, rather a cultural pole with a media library, a graphic center on graphics and a silkscreen shop. Almost 40,000 posters, including 5,000 old (late nineteenth century) and 35,000 contemporary ones, are preserved and digitized. You can admire this collection via www.silos.ville-chaumont.fr or in ad hoc exhibitions.
