THE RENAISSANCE HOUSE
This is another treasure that the charming city of Langres holds. This beautiful bourgeois building is a perfect example of the Renaissance architecture whose city is a showcase. Atypical, it's all right. Built in the middle of the sixteenth century, it is extremely well preserved and consists of two buildings, one garden side and one overlooking the street. Both sides are connected by a long lateral corridor. Here we play on geometry and levels. The facade is decorated with ionic and corinthal columns. You will suffer from this concentration of architectural elements and artistic details: columns, cornboards, fries, carved capitals… Even the cellars are admirable. This year, the working firm, the studiolo, was renovated and reopened to the public, after being closed for thirty years!
