HOUSE OF LIGHTS DENIS DIDEROT
House allowing to discover the century of the Enlightenment, the 35 original volumes of the Encyclopedia and the life of Denis Diderot
The famous philosopher, father of the Encyclopedia, was born in Langres on October 5, 1713. It is in his honor that the city inaugurated, 300 years later, this museum dedicated to him. Installed in the Breuil de Saint-Germain mansion, the Maison des Lumières, on 500m2, displays the history of the famous century of "Enlightenment", the 35 original volumes of the Encyclopedia and the life of Diderot. A good idea: a free guided tour is scheduled on the first Sunday of each month.
