REYNEL CASTLE
Situated between Chaumont and Tournai, Reynel was, in the Middle Ages, an advanced defence station in front of the Germanic Roman Empire and then Lorraine. In fact, it was of vital strategic importance, you will see it, the view embracing the entire valley. Famous families such as the Modèle or Amboise inhabited the Castle. Unfortunately, there were many wars, the Thirty Years War almost wiped out the building. In 1763, Claude-Adrien de la Rue, Count of Mareilles, bought him. The state of disrepair is such that it is forced to reconstruct everything, except a round tower, spared. Today, the building is listed in the additional inventory of historic monuments. A visit is needed to see the woodwork and a large collection of paintings by Jeff Leempoels (the famous painting of Fate and Humanity) and the remains of the th century Castrale Chapel. It's a great back in time, from outside, you will also enjoy an incredible view of the region.
