ADM
Wheat is one of the three most consumed major grains by man. It is found in various forms in its diet following a complex transformation process. Chamtor is one of the actors in this process. Its products are certified Origin France Guaranteed.
History. Created in 1992, this company came out of the ground on a former agricultural land in the heart of Champagne-Ardenne. Jacques Le Bohan, Alain Delaunoy and Georges Mangeart, the directors, were keen to transform chicory and wheat into sugars, inulin and glucose, to produce elaborate blends for the agri-food industry. But Chamtor will have to be sold to the German group Pfeifer & Langen to become a high-performance and profitable starch-glucose factory. Twenty years later, it is part of the Vivescia group and works on national and international markets. Its customers are confectioners, bakers, bakers, bakery manufacturers, Viennese pastries, pastries, ice-cream makers, etc., as well as the big names in animal nutrition and pet-food.
The products. Intended for human consumption, Chamtor produces glucose syrup, starch and vital or hydrolyzed proteins as well as wheat germs. They can be found in biscuits, deli meats and drinks. Similarly, for technical applications, these ingredients are found in cosmetology, cardboard and agglomeration. Finally, Chamtor is also present in animal nutrition, whether in milk replacers (calves and piglets), in protein ration (pet-food and aquaculture) or in carbohydrate balance (livestock).
Employment. Chamtor has more than 200 employees and processes 450,000 tonnes of wheat per year. It has an annual turnover of 180 million euros, half of which is exported.
