BELVAL-EN-ARGONNE PONDS NATURE RESERVE
On the edge of the Argonne forest, the regional nature reserve of the Belval en Argonne ponds presents on more than 200 ha an impressive patchwork of natural habitats typical of the humid Champagne region, where a remarkable biodiversity reigns. The site is made up of 80 ha of ponds, bordered by about 60 ha of reed beds which shelter a wide variety of protected plant and animal species. Each year, nearly 270 varieties of plants and 165 species of birds are recorded. A path with free access from the main dike will allow you to discover the site and the riches it conceals. At the entrance of the site, the panoramic observatory offers a breathtaking view of the ponds, further along the path, the ornithological observatory will allow you to observe more closely the life of the birds of the lower pond and the one located in the quiet zone, the species of the upper pond without disturbing them. Throughout the year, free animations are organized to discover the site, ask for the program!
