PROTESTANT TEMPLE
Upon the promulgation of the Edit de Nantes in 1598, Protestants in the Châlonnaise region first visited Compertrix to attend the offices and hold their meetings. On 10 July 1682, another place was chosen on the territory of Fagnières where the community of the PRÉTENDUE (Prétendue Religion) community established itself. A temple of 23 m on 17,5 m was built and destroyed in 1688, after the revocation of the Edit de Nantes. The Négociant trader later opened a place of worship in his property of Petit-Fagnières. But we have to wait until 1875 to officially create a pastoral post. Pastor Andrault, assisted by the rémois Paul Krug, then acquired a land located in Lochet street, allowing the construction of a new temple. Built in 1880 by the Rémois Gosset, according to the plans of the architect Marnais Louis Gillet, the temple is located right in front of the synagogue of the city.
