A fine example of classical architecture, built between 1772 and 1776 by architect Nicolas Durand, at the location of a Renaissance building. This building closes the perspective of rue de la Marne. A representative of the neoclassical period of the late eighteenth century, the facade is preceded by a perron with four stone lions that delight Victor Hugo during his passage in the city in 1838. A plaque recalls that the unknown American soldier was appointed in 1921. It is also often a place of exposure.
