The biggest disappointment was the breakfast and restaurants. At breakfast the buffet is limited and you have to pay for any substantial hot food apart from creamy scrambled eggs and fatty streaky bacon. I asked for Gluten free toast and it took 25m to get to me. The seats by the window set for 2 people are not dining seats and not comfortable for eating as they are too low down for eating. Some of them have a nice view. Others do not and plenty of the seats have their backs to the restaurant. The small bar next to the restaurants was very good serving great cocktails and a plethora of champagne and wine by the glass or bottle.
The Michelin star restaurant top menu was very disappointing. It was almost 1200 Euros for 2 people in that being the 220 Euros per head for the top wine pairing. The food was not Michelin quality and we left many dishes as they did not taste good. Some where fine but not Michelin quality. The wine was cheap local young wine and not likened to a top wine pairing. Definitely a rip off menu for tourists. If I was to return I would order alacarte and I'm sure it would have been lovely.
Room service was good and all the typical favourites are there but after 1030 the menu is basically not edible and not fit for a 5 star hotel.
The spa was lovely and they did their best to fit us in even when they were very busy. With good weather the outdoor pool is great. All the staff were very helpful and friendly across the hotel in general. The housekeeping were very good and quick also.
I would go back and do the fine dining restaurant without tasting menus or wine pairings. The core restaurant I would make sure to be at a suitable table vs the couples seats at the window. In summary, definitely worth going and overall it is a great hotel and service with some pitfalls in the dining which you can be careful in your choices to avoid disappointment.
