CHAVOT CHURCH
Isolated church in the middle of the vineyards, the only vestige of a village that extended over the hill in the Middle Ages at Chavot-Courcourt
Perched on the top of the hillside, away from the village, the church of Chavot dominates the landscape. It stands out on the outskirts of Épernay! Dating from 1202, it still has its low Romanesque tower and a Renaissance portal. Isolated in the middle of the vineyards, it is the only vestige of a village which extended over the hillock in the Middle Ages and was destroyed during the wars of religion. In the sacristy, a reading room allows you to immerse yourself in the history of the place and the region. A member of the association is on hand to welcome and inform visitors.
