Castle of the XIIIth century dominating the Andlau Valley, with dungeon, shield walls and remains of frescos, organizes a medieval festival
At 451 meters above sea level on a granite promontory at Rothmannsberg, this 13th-century fortified castle dominates the Val d'Andlau. It offers a fine view of Andlau castle. The 24-metre keep is accessed through a high gateway. There are two dwellings encircled by a curtain wall on the west side, shield walls and some remains of frescoes in the seigniorial dwelling on the east side. During the medieval festival, a number of events are organized on the site, including banquet re-enactments, knight combat demonstrations and craftsmen in medieval costumes.
