LE SALMANAZAR - THEATRE GABRIELLE DORZIAT
An Italian-style theater in the Louis XV style, listed as a Historic Monument, offering multidisciplinary programming.
Inaugurated in 1902, this handsome Louis XV-style Italian-style theater has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1988, and retains its original machinery - a rare feat - in perfect working order. A remarkable building whose pediment was decorated by Sparnac sculptor Joseph Ascoli on the theme of the vine, which inspires theatrical art. On November 30, 1987, the establishment was named Théâtre Gabrielle-Dorziat to celebrate the memory of the famous Sparnac actress (1880-1979), who in a 60-year career appeared in over 100 plays and 64 films. Inside, 600 spectators can sit back and admire the domed ceiling designed by Maître Clarin. The foyer ceilings were painted by Courtois, known as "Bonnerencontre". The theater is still in operation and offers a multidisciplinary program.
