LAC DU DER IN CHAMPAGNE
One of Europe's largest man-made lakes, Lac du Der in Champagne, at Giffaumont-Champaubert.
Straddling the departments of Haute-Marne and Marne, it is one of France's major ornithological sites. Every year, over 400,000 sandhill cranes pass through France, and more than 300 bird species frequent the site. In spring, migratory birds return. In summer, purple herons, least bitterns and little egrets can be seen. Lac du Der is also one of Europe's largest man-made lakes. On land, in the air or on the water, enjoy moments of fun and relaxation with family and friends.
