MONTMIRAIL CASTLE
16th century castle with a French-style park, to be visited during Heritage Days and in the summer months
Built in the 16th century, this superb château was purchased in 1678 by Louvois, minister of Louis XIV, who had it restored in 1682. Part of the French-style park of this brick and stone palace was designed by Le Nôtre. During the French campaign in February 1814, the Emperor lunched here on the morning of the battle. Owned by the de La Rochefoucauld family for two centuries (since 1779), it can be visited in summer or during Heritage Days. Not to be missed!
