For 44 years, the Taittinger Champagne House organizes the international culinary award Pierre Taittinger. Next to this competition for professionals, the "Taittinger des cordons bleu" prize was created in 2009 for amateur chefs. The «Taittinger des cordons bleus», chaired by Gérard Boyer (former three-star «Crayères» star of Reims), is taking place:
The candidate sends a file by mail in accordance with the theme imposed by the jury.
The selection of files took place in September in Reims at a Reading Committee chaired by Gérard Boyer.
Three participants are selected for the final which takes place in Reims in the kitchens of the restaurant Les Crayères, under the sponsorship of the chef two stars Philippe Mille. The jury is composed of Gérard Boyer, Philippe Mille, a head of Reims and a surprise guest. After 4 hours, the candidate presents his or her dish which is eaten by the jury anonymously. Then the candidate chats with the jury for 10 minutes.
The price discount takes place at a friendly lunch. The winner is invited to Paris for the award night.
