A three-story museum displaying Krafft's magnificent collections as well as his Renaissance and Neo-Gothic furniture

Classified as a historical monument, this superb half-timbered house bears the name of its former owner, Nicolas Le Vergeur, a rich 16th century bourgeois. In 1910, the founder of the Société des Amis du Vieux Reims, Hugues Krafft, bought the mansion and installed the Musée du Vieux Reims on the ground floor. Upon his death in 1935, the building became the Le Vergeur Museum, displaying Krafft's magnificent collections on three floors, as well as his Renaissance and neo-Gothic furniture, the library and archives dedicated to Reims and its history, paintings by Gauguin, Matisse and Leonard and some fifty woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer.

The very knowledgeable guide made our visit one of my highlights of Reims. The museum has so many detailed pieces, and our guide knew so much about all of them. It was too bad we had to cut it short due to our own planning. Thank you for the experience!
