ART MUSEUM OF REIMS
Museum of Fine Arts exhibiting paintings, sculptures, prints and art objects from the 16th to the 20th century in Reims.
From Arts to Fine Arts. Whether you are fond of art or completely hermetic, you can't skip this museum, treasure of the City of Reims of which Henri Vasnier, defender of Art Nouveau and great collector, left a large part. The museum was set at the town hall, then transferred to the former Saint-Denis abbey, acquired by the City in 1908. It is now still occupying this location which is partly consistent with the abbot's residence of the 18th century, rebuilt in the 19th century. Themes illustrate, by famous names, the greatest movements in the art history from the 16th to the 19th century: portraits by Cranach father and son, Delacroix, Courbet and many impressionists. This room also evokes Nabis; Fauvism; cubism and the second half of the century with Elena Viera da Silva, Charles Marq, Brigitte Simon...
