OUR LADY OF THE CASTLE CHURCH
Gothic church with capitals depicting rural scenes and stained glass windows depicting the life of Saint Menehould
Built in the 13th century, it has survived the various destructions that have affected its history. Built in Gothic style, it was partly buried following reinforcement work launched by François I, who feared an attack by Charles V. The church features fine capitals depicting rural scenes, the baptistery where Pierre Pérignon, the future inventor of Champagne wine according to legend, was baptized, and a fine bas-relief depicting the dormition of the Virgin Mary. The stained glass windows depict the great moments in the life of Saint Menehould, who dedicated her life to caring for the poor and sick.
