Museum presenting a collection of thousands of artistic or archaeological objects, paintings, sculptures, weapons
A true cultural center of the city, this building was the first to be rebuilt after the fire of 1719. At the time, it was the Hôtel de la Subdélégation de Champagne, an administration managed by the sub-delegate (former sub-prefect) and the home of his family. The vagaries of history have made this building was bequeathed in 1907 by the family Viard Morel to the municipality on condition that it becomes a municipal museum. A restoration in 2011 has redesigned the building into a cultural center bringing together three structures: a museum of art and history, labeled Museum of France, a media library and a cyberspace. The Museum of Art and History presents in its permanent exhibition rooms an interesting collection that testifies to the rich past of the city through the many paintings, sculptures, coins, earthenware, weapons, furniture, art objects and natural sciences ... During the visit, each exhibited curiosity will take you on a journey to relive the history of Sainte-Ménehould, from its past as a stronghold in the Middle Ages to the ideal city in full intellectual effervescence in the 18th century, where the gentle way of life was known before the Revolution. To know: the building houses the tourist office and a syrup bar where you can enjoy a moment of relaxation around a cold or hot drink.
